For flyers and posters: what’s different
A flyer has a few seconds to turn interest into action. A QR code lets someone act right there, booking, buying or reading more, instead of trying to remember your web address later.
Tell people what they get for scanning (“Scan to book your free trial”), point the code at a page made for that offer, and make it big enough to scan from where people will be standing.
What works
- Write what the scan does next to the code. “Scan to book” beats a bare code every time.
- Size it for the distance: about 2 cm for a handheld flyer, 10 cm or more for a poster across a room.
- Download the SVG for print so the code stays sharp at any size.
- Add UTM tags to the link with the free UTM builder so you can see flyer visits in your analytics.
- Leave a white border around the code. Printers that crop too close make codes unreadable.
How to use it
- 1.Paste where the code should go.
- 2.Choose colours and a label. The contrast check warns you if it may not scan.
- 3.Download and test it with your phone camera.
Questions
Which format should I send to the printer?
SVG if your printer accepts it, otherwise the largest PNG. Both stay sharp when printed.
Can I see how many people scanned my flyer?
Add UTM tags to the link before making the code. Visits then show up in Google Analytics under that campaign.
Does the code expire?
No. It holds the link itself, with no redirect service in between.
